ALBANY– Albany resident Jessica Bowie has been arrested by the FBI in connection with a plan

to blow up the NYS Capitol Building in Albany and in her words recorded by the FBI, “ideally do it on a day when the most senators are there, maybe we time it where we know there is a meeting with the senators, try and get a good enough explosive in there to kill the senators and ideally to destroy as much of the building as possible really because this is the capital… a major hub for the state.”

Bowie, 35, converted to Islam five years ago, became an ISIS supporter and increasingly of late has been considering and pledging her devotion to destruction of the “infidels.”

The FBI had been following her activities and comments on social media as she considered bombs, security at the capitol, and her escape plans.

On August 20, Governor Kathy Hochul said, “Today, the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI announced the arrest of an individual who allegedly plotted an attack on the New York State Capitol. I’m grateful to the FBI for leading this investigation and to the New York State Police for their work to apprehend this dangerous individual.

“Earlier this year, amid a rise in political violence and threats against public officials, we took steps to strengthen security at the State Capitol and across state government.

“While there is no immediate threat at this time, we will continue working closely with our law enforcement partners to protect New Yorkers and keep our communities safe.”

This is an ongoing story.
