ALBANY – Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York (JFNENY) is hosting a program featuring Chef Yaniv Cohen, tonight, Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at Congregation Beth Abraham –Jacob, 380 Whitehall Rd., in Albany).
Participants will have an opportunity to explore Israeli and Middle Eastern spices. The program begins with wine and light hors d’oeuvres and it will feature an authentically prepared kosher family-style tasting menu and offer individuals a chance to craft a personalized shawarma spice mix to take home. The program will finish with a selection of desserts and coffee.
Cohen is the owner of Jaffa, a celebrated Israeli restaurant in Miami. His family made aliyah from Iraq and Tunisia. Growing up among Jews from around the world, Cohen reports that he developed developed a deep appreciation for global culinary traditions and the power of food to connect cultures.
The event will also feature a spice tasting experience, a live cooking demonstration, hands-on spice blending and the opportunity to purchase Chef Cohen’s cookbook signed by the author.
