Kyra Teis surrounded by some of her art.
SCHENECTADY– The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (SJCC) will present a new art installation, “Kyra Teis Art” by artist Kyra Teis thru Dec. 25, in the Farber-Miness Lounge at the Center, 2565 Balltown Rd. A reception for the installation is set for Wednesday, Nov. 12.
According to organizers, at the heart of all Teis’s work is a passion for bringing stories to life — whether through the imagery of children’s books, personal histories sewn into textiles, or the emotive qualities of abstract art. After 25 years of illustrating children’s books, Teis is now creating digital collages that she makes by layering scans of hand-painted papers to create visual texture and compositions.
