The Shir Chadash Trio
Saratoga Jewish Community Arts (SJCA) will present its annual Chanukah concert on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Beth Shalom Synagogue, 688 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park. Chanukah begins Dec. 14.
The program, open to the community, will feature The Shir Chadash Trio. The trio, whose name in Hebrew means “to sing a new song,” is a folk-rock ensemble that blends traditional and original Hebrew and Jewish liturgical music.
The Shir Chadash Trio’s members are involved with this region’s jazz and Jewish music scenes. The group features Mike Pletman on lead vocals and guitar, Israel (Izzy) Singer on drums and vocals, and Linda Ellen Brown on bass and vocals. According to organizers, the trio, formed in the mid-1980s, has entertained audiences at diverse venues across the northeast region.
There is no admission fee, but those planning to attend are asked to donate $10. Checks may be mailed to Temple Sinai, 509 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, N.Y. 12866. Pre-registration for the concert is required and it may be obtained by entering in a browser:
