Barbara Ripps stands by 50 home-cooked meals prepared by Kitchen of Kindness volunteers.
A team of volunteers at Clifton Park Chabad has been quietly turning out home-cooked meals for neighbors in need, and the numbers are adding up. Through its Kitchen of Kindness program, the group cooked, packaged, and delivered 50 fresh, strictly kosher meals this past week alone.
Over the past three months, more than 20 volunteers have given their time to cook, package, and deliver food, and together they have prepared over 150 meals, according to the Chabad.
The meals go to community members going through a hard stretch: a family facing a medical challenge, new parents, a senior who may be feeling lonely, or anyone who could use a little help. All referrals are kept confidential.

The organizers say the program runs on volunteer effort alone. “Your kindness, generosity, and dedication bring nourishment, comfort, and friendship to so many,” they wrote in a note thanking the team. They also thanked the Jewish Kids Create campers who baked desserts for the meals.
The next Kitchen of Kindness session is set for Sunday, July 19 at 4 p.m., and the group is looking for one or two more volunteers. To help cook and deliver, or to confidentially recommend someone to receive meals, contact Clifton Park Chabad at info@cliftonparkchabad.com.
