Jewish Family Services of Northeastern New York (JFS) will hold its “Generations Celebration” program on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ohav Shalom Synagogue, 113 Krumkill Rd., Albany.

The evening will honor three community members with the Anschel Weiss Community Builders Award: Rabbi Dr. Moshe E. Bomzer, LMSW; New York State Senator Neil D. Breslin; and Gordon N. Zuckerman.

JFS will also recognize the Massry family for their leadership in helping secure the organization’s future, and will mark 20 years of two of its longest-running programs, the Albany Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC) and Project 5 Transportation.

The celebration will also applaud three of Project 5’s longest-serving volunteer drivers: Abe Lacheta, Margo Strosberg and Sandi Zarch.

The award is named for Anschel O. Weiss, the longtime JFS executive director who recently died. It recognizes those who serve humanity with humility according to JFS criteria. Proceeds from the celebration support the free and subsidized services JFS provides to individuals and families of all ages and faiths.
