Chabad of Colonie will host a community event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the historic Entebbe Rescue, on Sunday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at Siena College’s Roger Bacon Hall, Key Auditorium, in Loudonville. The evening, titled “Entebbe: 50 Years Later,” will explore the events surrounding Israel’s Operation Entebbe and what led to the rescue of over 100 hostages in 1976 from Uganda. It will feature a film presentation.

Prior to the Siena program, Chabad of Colonie will host a bagel brunch at its Chabad house, 401 Loudon Rd., Loudonville on Sunday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m. It will offer an exploration of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s perspectives on the Entebbe rescue. The discussion will focus on the lessons, Jewish values, and timeless messages of faith and responsibility.

Both programs, free and open to the community, will reflect on the military achievement, the miracles associated with the mission, and its lasting impact on the Jewish people and Israel, according to Rabbi Mordechai Rubin, co-director of Chabad of Colonie.
