Jazz to be focus of March 18 Senior Moments luncheon
Congregation Gates of Heaven’s next Senior Moments luncheon March 18 pairs a midday meal with a live jazz trio of three local musicians.

SCHENECTADY — Congregation Gates of Heaven invites adults 50+ to another installment of its Senior Moments series on Wednesday, March 18. The afternoon begins with lunch at 12 noon, followed by a live jazz trio concert at 12:30 p.m. The performance will feature an eclectic mix of jazz standards and original compositions.
The program will showcase three local musicians:
Max Caplan, a classical and jazz composer and pianist, serves as an adjunct instructor of composition at SUNY Schenectady. He also holds accompanist positions at Union College, SUNY Schenectady, First Reformed Church of Schenectady, and Congregation Gates of Heaven.
Brad Monkell, a bassist who has performed with groups throughout the Region for over a decade, leads the jazz-funk group Bad Monk and regularly performs with Ten Most Wanted. Since 2019, he has also been active as a local stand-up comedian and radio personality.
Nathan Schied, a drummer and audio engineer known for his expressive playing,produces the weekly program WAMC Live in Concert for Northeast Public Radio.
