The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York has announced that its fourth annual community Shabbat, will be Friday, May 15, at the Albany Jewish Community Center, 340 Whitehall Rd., Albany.

According to organizers, “The Big Tent: One Community, One Table” Shabbat program aims to unite 500 individuals across generations and of various Jewish denominations for a shared evening of prayer, song, and dining.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with seven diverse paths to enter the Shabbat spirit. Attendees may choose from three distinct prayer tracks led by a dozen local rabbis, a study session, or social time in the lobby. Families will be catered to with specialized programming, including a PJ Library service for young children and a dedicated program for older kids.

“Imagine the vibrant energy of 500 Jews gathering under one roof, where the table spans every generation and denomination” said Mindy Holland, board chairwoman of the Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York. She added, “This experience reminds us of the true meaning of Klal Yisrael. Together, we are stronger.”

Following the sessions, a family-style community dinner catered by Kosher518 will begin at 7 p.m.

To encourage broad communal participation, the Federation has subsidized the meal costs through the generosity of two local sponsoring families. Registration rates are set at $10 for adults, $8, for seniors, and $5 for children.

Due to the physical capacity of the venue, attendance is limited to 500 participants.
