ALBANY–Spencer Mandell, who came to Congregation Beth Emeth as a rabbinic intern in 2023, will become assistant rabbi at the Albany congregation beginning this July. Mandell, who will be finish his studies at Hebrew Union College in New York this spring, has been working with youngsters at the Einhorn Center for Jewish Education, the Teen Leadership Club, and leading services and Torah study.

Robin Sobol, president of the congregation, announced the appointment, saying, “Over the past three years, we have had the privilege of getting to know Spencer and witnessing his remarkable growth as a rabbinic leader.”  In a message to members, she wrote: “From the bimah to the classroom, from pastoral moments to joyful celebrations, Spencer has brought thoughtfulness, warmth, and deep commitment to Jewish life. He has built meaningful relationships across generations and has become a trusted and caring presence within our community.”
