The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York (JFNENY) Women’s Philanthropy division will host podcasters Abigail Pogrebin and Rabbi Dov Linzer on Thursday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the Beth Abraham-Jacob Synagogue, 380 Whitehall Rd., Albany. The talk and dessert reception is open to the community.
Reform journalist and 60 Minutes producer Abigail Pogrebin and Rabbi Dov Linzer, president of a modern Orthodox seminary, will present a discussion about their journey together through the Five Books of Moses. For two years, Pogrebin and Linzer engaged in short, candid, conversations on their podcast for Tablet Magazine. Now, those dialogues have been collected and edited into their book, It Takes Two to Torah—just 4-6 pages per parshah.
Linzer is a Torah scholar whose values lean egalitarian while maintaining clear boundaries on what is correct and comfortable within Jewish law. Pogrebin, is an American Jew—engaged in Jewish life, primarily through study, reporting, congregation, and community rather than strict observance.
Cost is $20 per person and reservations may be made at https://jewishfedny.ticketspice.com/wp-event25. Attendees will be asked to make a donation to JFNENY. Reservations for the dessert reception, which will be catered by 518Kosher and supervised by the Vaad Hakashruth of the Capital District, must be made by Sunday, March 16.
