ALBANY– Chabad and PJ Library of Northeastern New York welcomed more than 60 children and their families for a Tu B’Shevat-themed Kids’ Mega Challah Bake that blended hands-on creativity, Jewish learning, and food. The event was held on Sunday, Feb. 1, at Bethlehem Chabad.

Children were taught about the meaning of Tu B’Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees, and explored the significance of the seven fruits of Israel through an interactive tasting session and smoothies. The “taste-off” activity invited kids to sample pomegranate seeds, dates, figs, and olives before choosing their favorites to braid into their challahs.

Children also took part in a charitable initiative, raising $250 for Leket Israel, Israel’s leading food-rescue organization, according to program organizers. The contribution reflects the community’s ongoing commitment to kindness, community involvement, and was part of the effort to teach children the value of giving back to their community
