The singers — Jodi Snyder, Raquel Fernandez and Abby Goldfarb — met while performing in the Yiddish production of "Fiddler on the Roof" at the National Yiddish Theater Folksbiene in New York City. The musical, directed by Joel Grey in 2018, put the spotlight on the culture that was brought to America in the wave of immigration from the 1880s to World War II. The musicians, according to their story, bonded over their love for the immigrants' music and pickles, and formed The Mamales at a Lower East Side delicatessen in 2022. Beth Emeth's Cantor Emily Short also worked at the Folksbiene during the production and got to know the women and their wide-ranging repertoire of Broadway hits, Yiddish favorites and popular standards.

Ticket prices are donor at $90 or double donor at $115. Dessert only and the concert will be available at $36. Funds will support the Sisterhood's projects for the Einhorn Center for Jewish Education and the other parts of the Beth Emeth community. Registration may be made online at Sisterhood Susan B. Shpeen z"l Memorial Donor Dinner 2026 featuring The Mamales. For only the concert and dessert, registration is available at https://cbealbany.shulcloud.com/form/the-mamales-concert-and-dessert.
