Isle of Klezbos, an all women klezmer group, set for June 14 concert at Shaara Tfille Synagogue

SARATOGA SPRINGS-Congregation Shaara Tfille and The Jewish Community Center of Saratoga Springs will note Pride Month with a performance by Isle of Klezbos on Sunday, June 14, 1 -3 p.m. The performance will be at the synagogue, 84 Weibel Ave. Saratoga Springs.

Isle of Klezbos is an all-women klezmer group founded in 1998 in New York City by drummer and bandleader Eve Sicular. The group blends traditional Eastern European Jewish klezmer music with jazz, tango, swing, folk, and original contemporary compositions. Its style is often described as playful, theatrical, and rooted in Yiddish musical culture. The band became known not only for its musicianship but also for expanding klezmer into queer and feminist cultural spaces. Its name is a pun combining "klezmer" with "Lesbos," reflecting the group's LGBTQ+ identity and community connections. The band has been active in Pride-related performances and Jewish cultural festivals.

Admission is $10 per person and will includes light refreshments. Advance reservations are required and may be obtained through June 11 at 518-584-2370 or by e-mail, likebertrand518@gmail.com.

This performance is part of the Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival and is sponsored by a grant from Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York.
